Winter Trip 2024

Three of the club spent a week in the Cairgorms staying in a lovely place in Aviemore, and playing in the little snow there was. The weather at the beginning of the week was rather mild, with the top of the plateau being snow and ice free, however we managed to find some snow in the gullies, doing Aladdin’s Couloir in Corrie an t-Sneachda, as well as taking the rope and rack for a walk. Mid-week saw a change in the weather with a windy day ahead of some snow and a drop in temperatures, so a low level forest walk complete with rainbows was in order (as well as some gear shopping). With the colder weather we managed to do a short ice climbing pitch as well as practice snow anchors, and complete Jacob’s Ladder gully. A good week of winter mountaineering despite the effects of climate change!
